The Story Behind Surviving ESA

This isn’t just my story.
It’s a documented public record .. and a strategy guide for parents navigating a broken system.

Surviving ESA exposes how Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Account program delays, denies, narrows, and retaliates against families who know their rights.

This page includes approved media materials, book information, author details, case background, and press contact information.

What Happened?

What started as one denied physical education purchase became a documented record of delays, denials, shifting rules, narrowed objections, procedural shutdown, and judicial review.

Guy Lodge followed the rules.

Then the rules changed mid-process.

He documented everything.

The result is Surviving ESA: part exposé, part strategy manual, and part public record for parents who are tired of being delayed, denied, and dismissed.

This is not a memoir.
It is a blueprint.

About the Book

Surviving ESA: A Parent’s Blueprint for Fighting Back shows what happens when a parent reads the rules, follows them, documents the denials, and refuses to disappear.

The book explains:

How ESA delays and denies valid purchases

How rules and justifications shifted during the process

How objections were preserved, narrowed, and ignored

How documentation became strategy

How parents can recognize the pattern and build their own record

The ESA Playbook in 5 Moves

For media, advocates, and reviewers, this is the simplest way to understand the pattern.

Delay the parent long enough to wear them down.

Deny the purchase without a clear rule.

Shift the explanation when challenged.

Narrow the record when the parent files.

Dismiss the case before the full pattern gets reviewed.

That is the framework behind the book, the exhibits, and the ongoing public record.

About Guy Lodge

Guy Lodge is a father of four, educator, publisher, and parent advocate who turned one ESA denial into a documented public record.

He is the founder of Learn 2 Read Read 2 Learn®, a word-first literacy platform built to help families raise confident, capable, and curious readers.

He also founded LodgeWell Publishing, an independent publishing company focused on books that educate, empower, and inspire young readers to strive for excellence, and Full Court Press, a nonfiction imprint for books that challenge broken systems, equip communities, and move
people to action.

Through Surviving ESA, Guy exposes the paper trail behind his ESA fight and teaches parents how to document, preserve evidence, and stand on business when systems try to wear them down.
